Zoltán Kovács has a passion for vines and the wines they produce. Originally from Transylvania, historically part of Hungary, Zoltán has spent the past 20 years in the Tokaj region leading the renaissance of its legendary wines. At Royal Tokaji he combines his respect for the incomparable tradition of the region with an understanding of the latest winemaking techniques to create the wines of Royal Tokaji, internationally recognised as one of the world’s finest producers.

Zoltán Kovács has a passion for vines and the wines they produce. The 1977 vintage Dictador rum matured for seven months in Royal Tokaji’s 12-year-old, 300-litre Zemplén oak barrels that had previously been used to age the 2016 Royal Tokaji Aszú 6 puttonyos. Under Zoltán Kovács’ watchful eye, the Dictador rum has been imbued with a round and complex finish, with fresh touches of the legendary sweet Hungarian wine.
