CHÂTEAU D'ARCHE

Was created in 1580 by Henry d'Arche, dean of the city of Bordeaux. At the time, his wines were already some of the most famous Sauternes. During the 1789 Revolution, the Château was taken over by the state and it was another two centuries before the estate was reunified. Château d'Arche joined the Grand Cru Classé classification of 1855. The range of wines consists of the production of the Sauternes grand cru classé and its second wine called Le Prieuré d'Arche, Perle d'Arche and Soleil d'Arche. A dry white wine is also produced in small quantities as well as a crémant d'Arche which was launched in 2016 on the market. In addition to the 53 hectares AOC Sauternes, Château d'Arche has 2,2 hectares in AOC Grave which allow the production of red wine.

Jérôme Cosson

Cellar Master Chateau d’Arche

joined Château d'Arche in 1989 for love, the love of his life, his wife. His father-in-law at the time was in charge of two properties, one in the Entre Deux Mers and the other in Sauternes, Château d'Arche, where Jérôme began to work actively in the vineyard and cellars. He studied general agricultural and made his first harvest in 1986 ; from this date his passion for wine was born. He learned from the elders, those who knew perfectly the terroir, the vineyards, the processes of vinification.

In 1996 Château d'Arche was sold and it was in that year that he took over the management of the property, bringing all his experience acquired over the years. This terroir of Sauternes has become a real passion and as he likes to say, a great wine is made above all in the vineyard. Even today, he oversees the complete process of the wines from Château d'Arche, vines, aging in cellars, from blending to bottling.
